Ama School of Medicine is a medical school of AMA Education System (AMAES) which is housed in AMA College Makati and strategically located in the heart of Makati City, the Philippines’ financial and business capital where the highest concentration of multinational, transnational and local corporations and international organizations and embassies hold their offices. The office of AMASOM is on 8th floor of AMA College Makati, which is located at 5486 South Superhighway, Bangkal, Makati City.
The university is having several facilities that are used for enhancement of MBBS students clinically and also in their practical skills which include laboratories for History, Gross Anatomy, Microbiology, Parasitology, and Pathology. In Gross Anatomy, students perform hands-on dissection of cadavers. All these facilities and classrooms for Medicine students are situated on the 7th floor of the AMA one Building.
The university aims to produce competent medical practitioners who are educated on an innovative case-based curriculum that will develop students to become self-directed and lifelong learners – qualities and also prepare themselves for professional practice. This hybrid curriculum is designed to synchronize the basic science concepts and to utilize case-based scenarios to integrate concepts related to the basic science disciplines. The clinical disciplines are integrated vertically by using a problem-based learning strategy to integrate concepts in the clinical disciplines. The curriculum of AMA Medical incorporates Information Technology which is based on capabilities to enhance learning and assessments because this is the strength that is offered by AMAES.
At AMASOM, the MD degree is recognized by the Medical Council of India (MCI) which is equivalent to the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree similarly offered in the UK, Australia, India, and other Commonwealth countries. Indian students will be given a license to practice in India after their MD graduation from AMASOM which is similar to the MBBS doctors from India after completion of licensing formalities with the MCI.
