Why study medicine in Latvia? The MBBS program of Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) is specifically designed to teach students the core competencies that are required in order to become highly skilled doctors who, upon graduation, are capable of pursuing a wide variety of careers.
The MBBS program is characterized by student cooperation and active engagement in group work. Studies involve working on a series of patient-centered problems, revealing the basic principles that influence human health and disease. Medical knowledge and practical clinical skills are gained by giving students the opportunity to work with patients from the 3rd year onwards. The Faculty of Medicine offers professional education, and the opportunity to study medicine under the guidance of professors from Latvian universities and hospitals, as well as from abroad. As a student of the “Medicine” program, you will acquire up-to-date knowledge and skills, which are competitive in Europe and the rest of the world.
Unlike medical studies at most European institutions of higher education, studies at Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) Faculty of Medicine are more integrated with clinical practice. Students learn the basics of the profession at RSU clinical hospitals and the main medical treatment and scientific institutions in Latvia: P. Stradiņš Clinical University Hospital, Children’s Clinical University Hospital, Riga East University Hospital, Hospital of Traumatology and Orthopaedics.
Course & Eligibility
- Eligibility criteria: - Candidate must have passed their 10+2(sr. secondary education) with minimum 50% marks with PCB (physics, chemistry, and biology) from any recognized board.
- Admission: - Admission will be on the basis of the marks obtained in the entrance exam (NEET).
- NEET Cut off (2020): - For General Category: - 147 marks, For reserved category: - 113 marks.

- The required digital photograph above the shoulder in a white background. It should show a close up of your face and the top of your shoulders so that your face takes up between 70% - 80% of the face. (Kindly share clear scan copy over email ID provided by your counselor)
- Required 6 passport size photographs should be 35mm x 45mm in Width and Height over matt paper with a white background.

- ➢ 6-month update bank statement student/parent with a minimum closing amount of Rs. 2.5 Lakh. (PLEASE NOTE: Passbook copy is not acceptable)
- ➢ 3 years ITR for parent (Not mandatory)
- ➢ Student Pan Card Copy (For Dollar exchange & Forex Card)

Hostel Description
Riga Stradiņš University (RSU) has three student hostels in Riga:
- Dzirciems: 5 Dārza Street, located near the RSU main building;
- Āgenskalns: 7 Mārupes Street, not far from Pauls Stradiņš Clinical University Hospital;
- 3 Hipokrāta Street, not far from Riga East University Hospital.
