Introduction
The University Targu Mures Medical Campus Hamburg (UMCH) is an accredited Hamburg-based branch of the Romanian State University of Medicine, Pharmacy, Science and Technology Targu Mures (UMFST). Every year, up to 150 students are given the opportunity to begin their medical studies in Germany – without a perfect high school degree or and without a waiting period. The studies at UMCH’s Campus in Hamburg take place in English and last a total of 6 years. The practical part, which takes place in various teaching hospitals throughout Germany, is carried out in German.
You will study at a campus in Hamburg that was newly established in 2018 and receive a holistic, practice- and patient-oriented medical education from the very beginning. You will also benefit from ultra-modern structures and seminar rooms as well as laboratories equipped with the latest cutting-edge technology. For example, the UMCH offers digital training capacities, such as a virtual 3D anatomy and dissection table, on which highly precise simulations are possible.
Classes take place in small groups, ensuring close contact and exchange between lecturers and students. This way, you are individually supported and able to concentrate fully on learning. Thus, you benefit from the positive study climate at UMCH.

Campus and accommodation
The lush campus of UMCH is located in the Bahrenfeld neighborhood of the Altona district in Hamburg. Coined Germany’s Science City, Hamburg is known for its developed industries and leading modern infrastructure.
The university’s campus is extensive and includes all the amenities you can think of. The cafeteria works around the clock, always including vegetarian or vegan dishes on its menu. There are also a plethora of UMCH Student Clubs that you can be part of. These give you the opportunity to complement your university experience outside of studying.
We understand that finding accommodation in a new city as an international student can be a cumbersome task. This is why UMCH has partnered with several housing providers, who provide fully furnished and comfortable homes for students at an affordable rate.
